Vargas — D10 and the Divisional Chart Family

Now that you've learned D9, let's take a look at the whole Varga (divisional chart) family at once. Vedic astrology keeps a separate magnifying glass ready for each area of life. When you want to look deeply at a particular topic, you pull out the chart dedicated to it.

Of these, D10 (Dashamsha) is used most often after D9. It's the chart for looking at career and public achievement. If House 10 of the birth chart (D1) is the 'house of career,' D10 is a map that magnifies the single topic of career in full. That's why, when reading career in depth, you look at D1's House 10, House 10's ruler, and D10 together.

It's good to just know the names of the rest too. D7 looks at children and creativity, D12 at parents and lineage, D24 at education, and D60 at very fine-grained karma. But the deeper you go into divisional charts, the more a slight error in birth time changes the result. If your birth time isn't precise, it's best to stick to around D1 and D9.
