Relationship Astrology — Synastry and Composite

So far you've read the sky of you alone. Now let's step into the world of reading a relationship by overlaying two people's charts. There are broadly two methods — Synastry and Composite.

Synastry looks at things by overlaying two people's charts. It checks which house of the other person's chart your planets fall into, and what angles each other's planets form. For example, if the other person's Venus falls into your relationship house, that's read as a signal of mutual attraction. In a word, it's "how do we react to each other".

Composite goes one step further. It creates a third chart from the midpoint of the two charts. This is the character of the 'relationship' itself, neither you nor the other person. It treats the relationship like a single personality and reads "what kind of thing is this relationship".
