Supporting Stars — Six Assistants and Six Challengers

They explain why two people with the same major star can still read differently.

Fourteen major stars alone would produce only fourteen kinds of people. Supporting stars explain why people with the same major star differ. They sit beside the major stars and modify how those stars express themselves.

Six Benefic Stars (六吉星) — six helpers

They bring support, skill, and timely helpers.

Zuo Fu (左輔)a helping hand beside you
You Bi (右弼)quiet support underneath
Wen Chang (文昌)the star of writing and examinations
Wen Qu (文曲)the star of expression and talent
Tian Kui (天魁)a visible mentor arriving at the right time
Tian Yue (天鉞)a quiet helper behind the scenes
Six Challenging Stars (六煞星) — six sharpening forces

They are not simply harmful. Their friction can sharpen ability and carry someone beyond ordinary limits when used well.

Qing Yang (擎羊)sharp forward drive
Tuo Luo (陀羅)slow, coiling resistance
Huo Xing (火星)fire that catches at once
Ling Xing (鈴星)fire that burns within
Di Kong (地空)the place that empties
Di Jie (地劫)the place that disperses
Two other weighty stars

Lu Cun is a personal storehouse; Tian Ma is the energy of movement.

Lu Cun (祿存)a storehouse for your own share
Tian Ma (天馬)the energy of movement
Supporting stars do not spread evenly like major stars; they cluster in a few positions. Darker cells hold more challenging than benefic stars.

It is important not to read challenging stars as automatically bad. Stars such as Qing Yang and Huo Xing add force and drive. Friction may increase, but some thresholds require exactly that power. The decisive question is where you direct the edge.

Benefic stars are not all-powerful either. Zuo Fu and You Bi can attract support, but if the major star itself is weak, what they support may be unclear. Supporting stars only assist the major star, so read the major star first and these modifiers second.

More than thirty additional miscellaneous stars (雜星) exist. Their use varies by school, and listing them all can obscure what matters, so Glowy does not include them.
