Family Ties — Reading the Ten Gods as People

Parents, siblings, wealth, career — read as relationships, old and modern readings side by side.

The last chapter's the Ten Gods was the 'relationship' between you and the characters. Reading that relationship as actual people is Family Ties (六親). Even the same Ten God can be read as a task, like 'wealth,' or as a person, like 'family' — reading it as a person is Family Ties.

The broad frame is this: Resource is the seat that supports you, so it reads as parents and teachers; Companion is the seat beside you, so it reads as siblings, friends, and colleagues; Output is the seat you send out through; Wealth is the seat you handle, so it reads as wealth and father; and Influence is the seat that tightens around you, so it reads as career and honor.

Family Ties is reading the five Ten Gods groups translated into 'people seats.'

There's something worth flagging here. Traditional Chinese metaphysics has a convention of reading a spouse differently depending on gender. For instance, a man reads Wealth as his wife, and a woman reads Influence as her husband. Since this reflects an old social structure, a part that calls for care applying as-is today.

So at Glowy we suggest reading Family Ties as not as a 'fixed family chart' but as an 'energy role'. Wealth becomes 'the strength you use to handle reality and money,' Influence becomes 'the strength to hold responsibility and your social standing,' Resource becomes 'the strength to take in and learn,' and so on. Know the traditional reading for reference,, but don't forget that relationships, in the end, are built by each person's own choices and effort.
