Progressions — the Inner Clock of Growth

Your birth chart is a photo frozen at the moment you were born. But the sky kept moving even after you were born. The way of reading how your inner self has grown through that movement is called progression.

The most commonly used secondary progression has just one rule — "A day after birth = a year of life." So the sky 30 days after you were born becomes the shape of your inner self around age thirty. This is genuinely different from the sky actually hanging overhead right now (a transit). Progression is a clock of the mind slowly ripening inside you.

Just two things are enough to remember. The progressed Moon shifts sign about every two and a half years — a rhythm of your emotional season changing. The progressed Sun shifts about one sign every 30 years — a slow flow where life's big chapter turns over. So it's no coincidence that around age twenty-nine or thirty, people feel like "I've changed a bit."
