Zi Wei, Tian Ji, Tai Yang, Wu Qu, Tian Tong, and Lian Zhen.
At the center of Zi Wei Dou Shu are fourteen major stars. Which palaces they occupy shapes much of the reading. Rather than memorize all fourteen at once, we will divide them into two groups by placement pattern.
First come the six stars of the Zi Wei series. Once Zi Wei’s position is known, the other five follow at fixed intervals. That makes Zi Wei’s seat the first link in arranging the entire chart.
When the board shakes, this role chooses a direction and carries that decision through.
This star stands at the center of a group and sets its direction. Rather than forcing itself forward, it is naturally lifted into a central role.
Strength: dignity, leadership, and composure before large responsibilities · When imbalanced: pride that can make it hard to ask others for help first
Its energy suffers most when its intentions are repeatedly blocked or it is kept in a subordinate role.
It may not make the choice itself, but it creates the options from which a choice can be made.
This star thinks quickly and never stops considering possibilities. It works less as the figurehead than as the strategist reading the board from the side.
Strength: planning, adaptability, and an eye for options others miss · When imbalanced: thought that runs so long that decisions arrive late
It feels most constrained when required to answer immediately without time to think.
It lights dark places so others can find their way.
This is a star that shines outward. Its energy rises through giving to others and standing in public rather than protecting only its own share.
Strength: fairness, generosity, and ease in stepping forward · When imbalanced: burning itself out while illuminating everyone else
It depletes quickly when giving goes unrecognized for too long.
It closes the final gap so what was started does not dissolve unfinished.
This star drives a chosen course through to completion. It speaks through results and has a practical feel for numbers and tangible resources.
Strength: decisiveness, execution, and a practical sense for resources · When imbalanced: a firm manner that can leave feelings underexpressed
It tires fastest in settings where talk continues without a conclusion.
It rounds off sharp edges so people can stay together longer.
This is a gentle, rounded star. It flows without seeking conflict, and that ease itself tends to invite goodwill.
Strength: optimism and an ease that helps others relax · When imbalanced: remaining comfortable long enough to miss the moment to push
It struggles most where conflict is required or a hard refusal must be given.
It redraws lines where things have grown loose and digs deeply into what it chooses.
This star combines principle with passion. It guards standards closely while carrying a strong heat beneath the surface.
Strength: discipline and the focus to stay with what it takes on · When imbalanced: leaning strongly to one side and creating sharp shifts in temperature
It finds wavering principles and careless compromises especially hard to tolerate.
In broad strokes: Zi Wei holds the center, Tian Ji plans from the side, and Tai Yang shines outward. Wu Qu pushes through, Tian Tong flows without conflict, and Lian Zhen combines principle with passion.
One point matters: these stars are not simply good or bad. Zi Wei does not guarantee an easy life, and Lian Zhen does not make a chart harsh. Meaning depends on which palace a star occupies, how comfortable it is there (brightness), and which Four Transformation marker it carries. The next chapters explain those layers.
